Health is Wealth (Healthy living)

Healthy living involves more than physical health, it also includes mental and emotional health

Healthy living” to most people means both physical and mental health are in balance or functioning well together in a person. In many instances, physical and mental health are closely linked, so that a change (good or bad) in one directly affects the other. Consequently, some of the tips will include suggestions for emotional and mental “healthy living.”

All humans have to eat food for growth and maintenance of a healthy body, but we humans have different nutrition requirements as infants, children (kids), teenagers, young adults, adults, and seniors. For example, infants may require feeding every 4 hours until they gradually age and begin to take in more solid foods. Eventually they develop into the more normal pattern of eating three times per day as young kids. However, as most parents know, kids, teenagers, and young adults often snack between meals. Snacking is often not limited to these age groups because adults and seniors often do the same.

Tips:

⭕ Eat three healthy meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner); it is important to remember that dinner does not have to be the largest meal.

⭕ The bulk of food consumption should consist of healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk products.

⭕ Incorporate lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts (with emphasis on beans and nuts) into a healthy diet.Eat three healthy meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner); it is important to remember that dinner does not have to be the largest meal.

⭕ Choose foods that are low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars; look at the labels because the first listed items on the labels comprise the highest concentrations of ingredients.
Control portion sizes; eat the smallest portion that can satisfy hunger and then stop eating.

⭕ Healthy snacks are OK in moderation and should consist of items like fruit, whole grains, or nuts to satisfy hunger and not cause excessive weight gain.

Mental health
Healthy living involves more than physical health, it also includes emotional or mental health. The following are some ways people can support their mental health and well-being.

Tips:

Take a walk and reflect on what you see and hear at least several times per week.

Try something new and often (eat a new food, try a different route to work, go to a new museum display).

Do some mind exercises (read, do a puzzle occasionally during the week).

Get enough sleep daily; the CDC recommends the following by age group (naps inclusive); 12-18 hours from birth to 2 months, 14-15 hours from 3-11 months of age, 12-18 hours for 1-3 years of age, 11-13 hours for 3-5 years of age, 10-11 hours for 5-10 years of age, 8.5-9.5 hours for 10-17 years of age and those 18 and above need 7-9 hours of sleep. Elderly people need about 7-9 hours but do not sleep as deeply and may awaken at night or wake early, so naps (like kids need) allow them to accumulate the total of 7-9 hours of sleep.

Try to make some leisure time to do some things that interest you every week (hobby, sport).
Learn ways to say “no” when something occurs that you do not want to do or be involved with.
Have fun (go on a trip with someone you love, go shopping, go fishing; do not let vacation time slip away).

About Your Children

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thougts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even
in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with
His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Take a moment to listen today
to what your children are trying to say,
Listen to them, whatever you do
or they won’t be there to listen to you.

Listen to their problems, listen to their needs
Praise their smallest triumphs, praise their littlest deeds;
Tolerate their chatter, amplify their laughter,
Find out what’s the matter, find out what they’re after.

If we tell our children all the bad in them we see,
They’ll grow up exactly how we hoped they’d never be;
But if we tell our children we’re so proud to wear their name,
They’ll grow up believing that they’re winners in the game.

Take a moment to listen today to what
your children are trying to say
Listen to them whatever you do, and
They’ll be there to listen to you.

So tell them that you love them every single night;
And though you scold them make sure you hold them
and tell them they’re all right, “Good night, happy dreams,
Tomorrow’s looking bright.”

How Brainy Facts Started

Brainy Facts

It all started when I came home from school. I sat outside of our house and started scrolling through my Pinterest feed. After a few minutes of nonstop scrolling, a photo caught my attention. That photo represents something that is called AI or Artificial Intelligence and it inspired me about something. I saved the photo and I opened my Facebook account to create a page. Since I already became an Editor of a Facebook page which is about facts, I was inspired to start my own. The name, “Brainy Facts” suddenly came up on my mind as I was looking at the photo that I saved from Pinterest. After creating the page, I scroll through my Twitter feed to find facts or trivia that I can post. It then continued until my page gained some followers. At first, the posts are only about facts until I tried to post something funny and it caught many people’s attention. After finding out what my few followers read the most from my page, which are jokes, I started posting many jokes than before. Because of posting random jokes, I gained more and more followers and it resulted to my page having a popular post at least one per day. Then one day, I was really really sad to the point that, I don’t want to post on my page anymore. When I scroll through my Twitter feed, I found a lot of sad posts that gave me an idea to have another topic on my page. After collecting some sad posts from Twitter, I posted them on my page and still, it gained a lot of attention from many followers.

After all of those hard works, I finally found out what my followers like about my page. Since they like relatable things, I continue to post more jokes, and sometimes, more sad posts. But, I didn’t forget to post facts because many followers are complaining that my page is slowly turning into a “sad teen page” and not a “serious page” anymore. Knowing that my popular posts causes me to gain more followers, it motivates me to do more, to be much more creative. This page taught me that no matter how sad your life is, just keep doing what you love especially when many people are entertained by the things you do. Yes, it’s hard to make other people happy when you’re not even happy on your own but, be thankful also that you have a talent to make other people laugh when they are on their saddest days.

As the Creator of this page, which is Brainy Facts, I may be tired or lazy sometimes when it comes to posting updates and statuses, as long as my followers are appreciating my hard works, I will try my best to not give up and still give all of you a daily dose of relatable things that you can read from my online book, Brainy Facts

I remain my humble self. Divinedestiny.. solomondd1@gmail.com
